Teacher Resources
The East Tennessee Historical Society (ETHS) prides itself in offering quality teacher professional development programs. As a legacy of these programs, we are able to share valuable and unique resources with educators. For example, ETHS has published thematic
lesson plans developed by teacher alumni of our Teachers History Institute series (funded through a grant from
Humanities Tennessee, a local affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, with additional support from Mrs. B.W. Grimes). We have also compiled a valuable
list of resource links featuring Tennessee primary and secondary sources, all annotated with explanations of the links' strengths.
The ETHS' Museum of East Tennessee History is a rich source for teachers and students. Since 2008, The Comcast Foundation has funded a number of curriculum resources that allow teachers and students to make the best use of what the museum has to offer, as well as to help integrate East Tennessee's story into the social studies and language arts classroom curriulum. Supplemental resources for the Comcast materials are found
here.
