The East Tennessee Historical Society's genealogical programs are part of the backbone of the ETHS mission to preserve, interpret, and promote the history of East Tennessee. Our popular family heritage programs, First Families of Tennessee and Civil War Families of Tennessee, help us record the story of Tennessee—one family at a time.

The Calvin M. McClung Historical Collection and the Knox Country Archives are housed in the same building with ETHS, offering unique, on-site historical and genealogical resources.

No matter what level of expertise you have in genealogy, from basic beginner to advanced researcher, ETHS offers a variety of lectures, workshops, and conferences throughout the year to help you expand and enhance your skill level.

And age is no issue either. We believe you are never too young to start preserving your family's stories and offer children's programs on genealogy.
