Annual Meeting of the Membership

The Foundry on World's Fair Park
Thursday, June 4, 2015 - 5:30pm

You are invited to join us for the ETHS Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 4, at The Foundry on World's Fair Park.  The meeting is a time for members and friends to come together and greet old friends, make new ones, and to celebrate the region’s history.  Both members and the general public are welcome.  The evening begins with a social hour, followed by the Awards of Excellence presentations and the election of board and officers.

The evening’s special guest speaker is Dr. Michael E. Birdwell,  professor of history at Tennessee Technological University at Cookeville and chair of the Tennessee Great War Commission, whose mission it is to commemorate the one-hundredth anniversary of World War I.  The war has long been overshadowed by the Civil War and World War II, explains Dr. Birdwell, yet it “mobilized men and women and transformed the culture and politics of the state and nation in profound ways.”  The role of Tennessee’s native son Alvin C. York will also be a topic of discussion.
